Hi everyone,
We’re live at 8pm ET for our second installment of Dissident Film Club in partnership with Write Brain TV.
Year Zero: The Silent Death of Cambodia is a1979 British documentary written and presented by Australian journalist John Pilger, and directed by David Munro.
Broadcast shortly after the fall of Pol Pot, it was the first major piece of Western journalism to fully expose the scale of the devastation wreaked upon Cambodia by the Khmer Rouge.
Critically, Pilger’s documentary did not view the rise of Pol Pot in a vacuum. It placed the tragedy firmly within the context of Cold War international relations and imperial foreign policy.
We’ll be live on YouTube and Rumble at 8pm ET for the general public with news of the day including the disastrous CPAC conference and the foiled terror plot against Palestinian American activist Nerdeen Kiswani.
We will then host an interactive presentation of the film available exclusively for paid subscribers, followed by a talkback with call-in Q&A.
Information to access the full stream - the introduction plus the film presentation and Q&A - is listed below for paid subscribers:
