Tonight at 8pm ET: Dissident Film Club with Write Brain TV kicks off with the 1973 Vietnam War film “Land of Sorrows.”
Filmed in 1971 and released in 1973, this South Vietnamese film directed by Hà Thúc Cần offers a perspective that is frequently missing from Western retrospectives of the era: the firsthand experience of Southern Vietnamese civilians caught in the crossfire of a devastating war.
In addition to its political perspective, the film is unique for featuring the only Cinemascope footage of Vietnam taken during this time.
We will be live at 8pm ET on YouTube and Rumble with a brief discussion on the film with Kevin Ronca from Write Brain TV. We will then host an interactive presentation of the film available exclusively for paid subscribers, followed by a talkback with call-in Q&A.
